SOS THE AMERICAS
On October 23 2009 the famous Torch Of Life was lit in Wasilla, Alaska. It was the start of 2 year journey that ends up in Argentina October 24 2011. During this journey thousands of students will carry the Torch from almost 300 cities in 36 countries of the Americas. Together, with the community, media and all levels of Government, these student torch champions will bring organ & tissue donations to the forefront and hopefully help save many lives

Student Torch Champion Josh Tyynela from Bawating Collegiate carried the Torch of Life for his dad Andy who is need of a kidney transplant. Joining him was Jennifer Cembal who recieved a live liver. They carried the Torch to Sault Ste Marie City Hall where Mayor Rowswell recieved the Torch
