SOS THE AMERICAS
On October 23 2009 the famous Torch Of Life was lit in Wasilla, Alaska. It was the start of 2 year journey that ends up in Argentina October 24 2011. During this journey thousands of students will carry the Torch from almost 300 cities in 36 countries of the Americas. Together, with the community, media and all levels of Government, these student torch champions will bring organ & tissue donations to the forefront and hopefully help save many lives

The Torch Of Life began at St Joan Of Arc Catholic High School in the morning. Vaughan Student Torch Champions Emilia Hogan & Daniel Barrett were joined by VP Brett Crook to begin a 12 kilometer run. Principal Antonella Rubino organized a beautiful sendoff. Westview Centennial Secondary School teacher Terry Jones arranged a great reception for the students as they relayed the Torch to Toronto Champion Namita Patel. The Torch was then carried to De La Salle College. Along the way a woman got hit by a car in an accident, we found later that she was ok. De La Salle VP Robert Lundy arranged a great Student Assembly and Toronto Champion Michele Knecht ran with all the students to Queens Park. MPP Frank Klees and Toronto Police Staff Inspector David McCleod & Inspector Glenn Holt recieved the Torch from the Students. It was a great for everyone
