Day 45

SOS THE AMERICAS
On October 23 2009 the famous Torch Of Life was lit in Wasilla, Alaska. It was the start of 2 year journey that ends up in Argentina October 24 2011. During this journey thousands of students will carry the Torch from almost 300 cities in 36 countries of the Americas. Together, with the community, media and all levels of Government, these student torch champions will bring organ & tissue donations to the forefront and hopefully help save many lives

The Torch Of Life arrived in Ottawa and once again Immaculata High School represented the City. Students  Benjamin Gunn-Doerge & Sarah Dodsworth were chosen as the Student Torch  Champions. Activities started at Parliament Hill where NDP MP Paul Dewar hosted a Press Conference and was joined by PC MP Royal Galipeau. In an effort to show National unity they both lit the Torch and passed it to the students. The students carried the Torch to their school where a wonderful student assembly was arranged. Once again Immaculata High School rose to the occasion.
