SOS THE AMERICAS
On October 23 2009 the famous Torch Of Life was lit in Wasilla, Alaska. It was the start of 2 year journey that ends up in Argentina October 24 2011. During this journey thousands of students will carry the Torch from almost 300 cities in 36 countries of the Americas. Together, with the community, media and all levels of Government, these Student Torch Champions will bring organ & tissue donations to the forefront and hopefully help save many lives

George Marcello takes off on Continental Airlines at Toronto Airport on October 21 2009
Arrives in Anchorage after a 13 hour flight at the Howard Johnson Hotel and later at the Grand Anchorage Hotel
Wal Mart kindly delievers the Lamp Oil to George's hotel. They save the day
Takes off from Grand Anchorage Hotel at 6:45 am in a Taxi to arrive in Wasilla to begin the SOS THE AMERICAS Campaign

Sports Complex Manager James Hastings helps out with preparing the big kickoff. Susan Kelley, (mom) and Student Torch Champions Alison Kelley, Todd, Jessica, Noah and Brooke behind camera arrive to prepare big kick off. Deputy Chief, Craig Robinson, and Wasilla Police provide police escort for students. Web cast went well, used HD Camera and microphone.

PBS Reporter helps George out with the driving for the entire day’s event. Student Torch Champions Alison Kelley, Todd, Jessica, Noah run through Wasilla to Wasilla High School.

Student Torch Champions Alison Kelley, Todd, Jessica, Noah arrive at Wasilla High School. VP Dan Michael was the man responsible in making this kickoff happen in Alaska. He shares a few words with us. Susan Kelley (mom) helped to drive and organize the days events.

Students and Susan prepare the 2nd half of the event by running from Northway Mall to Anchorage Town Square

Webcast gets prepared at Anchorage Town Square. This was very challenging, ATT comes to the rescue with an internet provider. Doug Lemarsh brought the box to the square and thanks goes to John Fulton from Tel Alaska for arranging this.
