SOS THE AMERICAS
On October 23 2009 the famous Torch Of Life was lit in Wasilla, Alaska. It was the start of 2 year journey that ends up in Argentina October 24 2011. During this journey thousands of students will carry the Torch from almost 300 cities in 36 countries of the Americas. Together, with the community, media and all levels of Government, these student torch champions will bring organ & tissue donations to the forefront and hopefully help save many lives

Day 100
Bangor High School

On February 1, SOS THE AMERICAS was about to begin the 1st step of the lower 48 States. Everyone included with the event from Bangor were very excited. We were to begin the day with a Photo op with the Torch Of Life and the staff at Day's Inn. We couldn't find the Torch. We found out we forgot it at the Days Inn in Utica NY. The Days Inn staff created a Torch from a handle bar to do the photo op. When we were on our way to the Press Conference downtown, Home Depot donated a Pipe to us and we used this as the Torch. The 4 Students, Rachel Huber, Sam Nisbett, Benjamin Sinclair, and Brittney Chapman arrived, and so did everyone else. Councillor Hal Wheeler was the MC
and many special guests spoke. The Students carried the Torch back to their school in freezing weather. About 100 students cheered them on as they arrived with a make believe Torch but with very real spirit.
